I visited Malta in the first days of spring, at the beginning of April 2018, the year in which Valletta, the capital of the country, was designated the cultural capital of Europe.
At this time of year it is not very hot but not too cold, 18-22 ° C during the day and 12-14 ° C at night, and the wind blows strongly from all directions.
Valletta is a world-class architectural gem, where you can find influences and styles from all times, with stone buildings with colorful windows and doors, mostly red or green. With a splendid view of the harbor, surrounded by citadels everywhere you look around, the city is an open-air museum, a world-renowned destination on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walk or carriage ride will reveal the warm beauty of the cobbled streets where at every step you will find buildings full of history but also modern buildings, shops, terraces full of the continuous hum of tourists and locals.

Also known as the Hollywood of Europe, Malta is famous for the film industry that has developed here in the last century. In Malta you will recognize a lot of landscapes from the famous movies that were shot here: The Count of Monte Cristo, Games of Thrones, Assassin?s Creed, Popeye and many more.

We stayed in an apartment in Saint Julian booked on booking.com. Saint Julian is a modern city with lots of terraces, bars and places to spend your free time. The apartment was spacious, modern, with a large terrace, but being right in the center of town, there was quite a lot of noise from the crowd of construction sites. I don't think I've seen anywhere else where I've traveled as many construction sites and construction sites as I've seen in Malta.

Mdina is the old capital of the city, also known as the Silent City, a charming historical place with a magnificent view of the island's landscape. It is said that Mdina is the only city that has never been conquered. Even if it is not ashore, from here you have a 360 degree view of the entire island, and the sea can be seen in the distance. We enjoyed walking through the city, with its maze of narrow streets, and admiring the view from outside the city walls. Also here you can watch a 3D movie about the history, altruism and courage of the Maltese knights.

Another place famous for its beauty is the Blue Grotto, a set of wild cliffs and caves that can be visited with fishing boats in the area.

In the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk we admired the most colorful Maltese fishing boats, took a short walk with a traditional boat and admired the land from the sea.

I will not insist too much on Maltese cuisine, where you will find almost everything you like from world cuisine, with many influences from Italian cuisine, pizza, pasta, fish, seafood. If you like rabbit meat, in Malta you will have the opportunity to serve as much as your heart desires, because every restaurant has on its menu at least one rabbit dish, the traditional food of the country.

I was surprised to find in Malta a lot of new buildings and modern spaces, a place where I met people from all over the world, who all said that it is a welcoming country, where they like to live, with a standard of living. very good.
Malta is a wonderful place where history blends with modern, and the sun, sea and people are full of life, warmth and light.
